Greeley-Evans school board candidate has compared LGBTQ+ people to predatory animals
Stacey Casteel has history of misleading statements, confrontation with D6 board
A Greeley woman running for the Greeley-Evans District 6 school board this year has shared images on Facebook portraying members of the LBGTQ+ community as wolves in sheep’s clothing, according to a Gadfly review of her social media pages, an apparent allusion to the harmful trope that gay and lesbian people target children for sexual predation.
Stacey Casteel, vice president of membership for Greeley Republican Women, made her Facebook cover photo an image of a wolf in rainbow-colored sheep’s clothing on Dec. 22. “It’s okay,” the image reads. “We just want to read some books to your chickens.”
“Apparently not enough people understood Little Red Riding Hood,” she later commented on the photo.
